Youth Conservation Day at Westonbirt

About

Head outdoors, learn practical skills, and make a real difference to the arboretum. Whether you're curious about conservation or thinking about a future in environmental careers, this one-day event is designed just for you!

Run by Young People, for Young People:
This event is organised and delivered by the Westonbirt Youth Forum, giving you the chance to build confidence, develop new skills, and connect with like-minded people in nature.

Ages 11 – 16: Hands-On Forest Skills, 11:00am - 1:00pm
Get stuck in with practical conservation work! You'll learn how to care for young trees through weeding and mulching to help the woodland thrive.

What you'll get from it:
• try real conservation work
• build practical outdoor skills
• spend time in nature with people your age.

Ages 17–25: Conservation & Green Careers, 2:00pm - 4:00pm
Interested in environmental careers? This session goes deeper. Take part in a flora survey and explore how we measure carbon in woodland ecosystems.

What you'll get from it:
• learn fieldwork and survey techniques
• discover careers in conservation and forestry
• gain hands-on experience for your CV
• connect with others interested in the environment
