Head outdoors, learn practical skills, and make a real difference to the arboretum. Whether you're curious about conservation or thinking about a future in environmental careers, this one-day event is designed just for you!
Run by Young People, for Young People:
This event is organised and delivered by the Westonbirt Youth Forum, giving you the chance to build confidence, develop new skills, and connect with like-minded people in nature.
Ages 11 – 16: Hands-On Forest Skills, 11:00am - 1:00pm
Get stuck in with practical conservation work! You'll learn how to care for young trees through weeding and mulching to help the woodland thrive.
What you'll get from it:
• try real conservation work
• build practical outdoor skills
• spend time in nature with people your age.
Ages 17–25: Conservation & Green Careers, 2:00pm - 4:00pm
Interested in environmental careers? This session goes deeper. Take part in a flora survey and explore how we measure carbon in woodland ecosystems.
What you'll get from it:
• learn fieldwork and survey techniques
• discover careers in conservation and forestry
• gain hands-on experience for your CV
• connect with others interested in the environment

Spaces are free but limited, so booking in advance is essential. Email us at learning.westonbirt@forestryengland.uk to secure your place.
Parents/guardians and siblings are welcome to attend alongside booked participants (attendance is optional). If parents/guardians do not attend, a consent form must be completed for under 18's. Adult tickets cost £13 and child admission £4.50 (for ages 5-18 years).
