About

This 17th century Merchant’s House and was built following the Great Fire of Marlborough in 1653 and has been restored to the highest standard with unique and rare wall paintings being uncovered, a commanding oak staircase, an impressive Panelled Room and much of the original fabric survives.
This Grae II* listed house provides an insight into the lifestyle and interests of a middle-class family during 17th century Marlborough.
Take time to explore the beautiful gift shop with a variety of presents from Emma Bridgewater pottery to English soaps and greeting cards. During the months of November and December, the whole building is decorated for Christmas and the Panelled Room is becomes our no famous Christmas shop, full of decorations and festive gifts.

There is a programme of annual events to help raise funds and increase knowledge and appreciation of this period in history. These include living history events, 17th and 18th Century lectures, Music, Gardening, Candlelit evenings, Antiques and Art events.
