About
The Arts Society Kington Langley is for everyone who appreciates the arts in all its forms. As well as the lively social aspect of our monthly meetings we provide specialist lectures on a wide variety of topics from archeology to dance and much more.
Join us as a day member for our 5th July lecture - a fascinating HYBRID illustrative talk on the lost houses of Britain. There is something romantic and evocative about those long-overgrown drives, piles of rubble and stands of mature trees that are all that remain of lost architectural treasures
Matthew will explore the reasons these treasures were destroyed - arson, neglect, family rivalry, insanity as well as the social changes of high taxation, wars and bad management. A considerable number were destroyed after 1945- a great loss but still fascinating.
Matthew Williams specialises in Victorian houses and design and has been the curator of Cardiff Castle.
This is a hybrid event so you can zoom in or come to Kington Langley and share a glass of Pimm's beforehand.
Please use the booking form to let us know you are coming. The cost of the event is £8
