About
*THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELLED FOR 2020*
The largest festival in the UK dedicated entirely to History takes place 22 June - 28 June 2020.
Set within 70 acres of an area of outstanding natural beauty in Broad Chalke, near Salisbury, Wiltshire, the festival offers a unique blend of talks, discussions and debates alongside interactive living history, through-the-ages encampments and stunning air displays to excite, entertain and educate about the past. The festival uniquely combines over 150 talks from some of the best known experts on a vast array of subjects from ancient to modern day history, alongside an interactive living history programme led by some of our most popular TV historians and which includes some truly revelatory and exciting demonstrations, from cookery and daily life, medicine and surgery, to evolving warfare, tactics and weaponry. It is a celebration of history like no other!
All proceeds from the festival are directed to the Chalke Valley History Trust, which promotes the understanding and enjoyment of history to all ages. The festival also incorporates a History Festival for Schools, in which we provide a wide range of curriculum-based subjects by leading historians through a series of talks, living history and interactive demonstrations. We bring history alive to inspire and excite students and teachers alike and are proud that a large cross-section of schools attend from all over the country
