About
Two fantastic experiences in one day.
The first experience is to see Crofton Beam Engines in steam, our boiler lit and our beams rising and falling to lift water 40 feet to feed the Kennet and Avon Canal. The second experience is to join us as we host drivers and their cars taking part in Drive It Day.
This gives both participants in Drive It Day and members of the public the opportunity to enjoy two of the most important engineering developments of the last 250 years. Firstly, harnessing steam power, in our case to raise water to feed the Kennet and Avon Canal. Secondly, celebrating the motor car.
As an owner of a veteran, vintage, classic or special car you and your passengers are very welcome to come to Crofton. Show off your vehicle and visit the Pumping Station at the same time. We welcome individuals, groups and clubs. Once at Crofton you can meet likeminded people, admire each other's cars and visit the pumping station. If you don't own a special car, don't worry you will be very welcome at Crofton Beam Engines, enjoy seeing a display of interesting cars and then come into the Pumping Station to see some of Britian's finest heavy engineering from the early days of the Industrial Revolution.
To mark Drive It Day, all drivers of special cars will be given a 50% discount on the entry to Pumping Station. Adult prices are £14.50, drivers £7.50, children go free.
Drive It Day is an annual celebration run by the Federation of British Historic Vehicle Clubs, whose chosen Charity is the NSPCC's Childline.
