Set within the idyllic ancient Savernake Forest, Postern Hill is completely immersed in woodlands with lush, flat green pitches, and miles of cycle and walking trails connecting it to the wider 4,500-acre forest. Postern Hill is rich in everything ecological - from grand and ancient trees to a rich array of flora and fauna , allowing you to be embraced by natures best surroundings whenever you like.
As well as being located within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, most of Savernake Forest is a registered Site of Specific Interest (SSSI) . Although this is mainly related to its rare lichens and fungi, campers may be lucky enough to encounter other rare wildlife including Hawfinches, Restarts, Nightjars and Red-tail Kites. The campsite is a fantastic spot for watching bats with 11 different species known to visit the site.
Dogs are welcome , we have a toilet block with hot and cold running water. There are no showers on the campsite however, there is a leisure centre just 1.5 miles away that provides showers at a reasonable price for campers.
With so much to do in the area you will really be spoiled for choice. Whether you wish to embark on a peaceful forest walk and take in the stunning views, visit the historical Neolithic Avebury stone circle, or take a family trip to Longleat Safari Park, there is always something for everyone to enjoy.
Wonderfully spacious, perfectly placed and incredibly enticing, Postern Hill Campsite is just waiting to welcome you and is open all year round.
