The White Horse Inn is a charming 18th-century village inn nestled in the beautiful Wiltshire countryside, within the village of Compton Bassett. Located in a National Landscape, the traditional free house country pub with rooms offers an award-winning restaurant, cosy bar and welcoming atmosphere – it’s the ideal location for a memorable weekend break.

The White Horse Inn takes its name from the giant chalk carving at nearby Cherhill, and can be found just a few miles from the Avebury stone circle; Marlborough, Chippenham and a short drive to Bath. It offers nine beautifully appointed bed and breakfast rooms, each with in-room amenities including luxurious 100 Acre toiletries; all refurbished to a high standard. Accommodation is separate from the main pub and restaurant, across a small patio area. Most rooms overlook the delightful pub gardens and small paddock. Check-in: 3pm-9pm. Check-out: 10:30am.

If you’ve enjoyed a country walk locally, The White Horse Inn has space for muddy boots; and is dog friendly (treats behind the bar with our compliments!) and child friendly – with their well-behaved adults! But it isn’t only welly walks, The White Horse Inn is a great base from which to explore the area – from shooting at Barbury Castle, to shopping in Marlborough and Bath. Of course, Avebury is close by, as too is the spectacular white horse at Cherhill Down.
