This collaborative event between Town Hall Arts, Drawing Projects UK, Court Street Gallery and Trowbridge Museum aims to showcase the amazing and growing cultural + artistic offer in Trowbridge.

10 – 4pm: From Brick Mills to Court Street Gallery
Join us for an exhibition which will be taking a look back to the first Brick Mills to be built in Trowbridge. On display will be a range of imagery alongside information that will show how machinery was housed in what is now The Court Street Gallery... and it’s links to the Spinning Jenny!
There will also be textile classes taking place as well as drop in taster sessions for everyone to enjoy. Why not pop in and try your hand at a few things! See the building both past and present and join us in celebrating our Mill heritage.
The Court Street Gallery opened on May 4th this year and is a friendly, vibrant & creative space for everyone to enjoy. Offering a huge range of workshops from painting, sewing, jewellery, print, gilding, and fused glass, you can pick up a brochure with a full program.

11am: A guided history walk (meeting point outside the shop Mastershoe in Court Hall on Castle Street)
Join our costumed guide as he leads you on a historic stroll through Trowbridge. The walk takes about 1 hour, ending outside Laykers Café in White Heart Yard.

Trowbridge Museum tells the story of life in Trowbridge and its weaving mills which produced the West of England woollen cloth up until 1982. The museum is now closed for redevelopment but our team continue to work within the community, running workshops, children’s holiday activities and temporary exhibitions around town. The expanded museum is due to reopen in 2020.

Tours of Town Hall Arts
Guided tours of the building available at 11am, 12 noon and 1pm. Find out about the history and heritage of the Town Hall and see some behind the scenes areas not normally open to the public. Booking preferable but not essential
2-4pm: Victorian Tea Party with Angel Greenham
Join Angel Greenham for a tea party with a difference at Town Hall Arts! Angel has been exploring the history of the building throughout her residency in the Basement Cells. Now she invites you to explore the Victorian tradition of the tea party within our magnificent building, which was built to commemorate Queen Victoria in 1887-9.
Talks: English Historic Portraits with Paul Workman
Artist Paul Workman will be holding talks about English Historical Portraits and explaining the process and inspiration behind his painting of Baron Francis Seymour, which hangs in the Foyer at Town Hall Arts. Talks start at 11.30am, 12.30pm and 1.30pm and are held on the ground floor of the building. They will last for about 10-15 minutes. There is no need to book and they are free to attend.

Drawing Projects UK is delighted to present this Drawing Discussion event in association with the Jerwood Drawing Prize 2017 exhibition and as part of the Explore Art Trowbridge contribution to Heritage Open Day.
Hear Director of the Jerwood (now Trinity Buoy Wharf) Drawing Prize Project, Professor Anita Taylor, talk about the origination of the exhibition and its history since 1994 on Saturday 8 September at 4pm.

Drawing Projects UK is a non-profit centre for research, development, production and promotion of exhibitions, events and workshops in drawing and contemporary art. Formed in 2009 by Professor Anita Taylor to develop and promote research initiatives in drawing, including the Jerwood Drawing Prize, the centre opened at Bridge House in Trowbridge in 2015.
