Swindon and Cricklade Railway
Did you know? The Swindon and Cricklade Railway is the only standard gauge heritage railway in Wiltshire! Built, run and managed entirely by volunteers, the line occupies the site of the former M&SWJR. In 1978, the volunteer organisation took over the empty track bed and began the task of recreating a working railway for locals and visitors to enjoy! Today, you can discover a collection of locomotives and rolling stock including classical steam and diesel engines! Train rides on open days and special events also available.
Lower Moor Wiltshire Wildlife Trust
Located just west of Cricklade is Lower Moor Farm, a wildlife haven owned by Wiltshire Wildlife Trust. This stunning landscape is made up of 4 reserves, each offering fascinating contrasts with lakes, woodland, meadows and ancient boardwalks. Take a stroll out of Cricklade town and bask in this natural beauty as you admire some of the prettiest pathways and magnificent lake reflections all year round.

Don’t Miss: Frittilaries at Cricklade North Meadow National Nature Reserve. This old hay meadow just outside the town is famous for it’s snake head fritillaries which come out in late Spring, leaving the field sprinkled in beautiful colours!
