In Salisbury

There is more to Salisbury than meets the eye, and despite living here for several years I’m ashamed to say that I didn’t know about some of these places in our hidden gems list below. So make sure to look out for some of these places on your visit to the perfect historic City.

The Devenish

Not too far away from the popular Old Sarum, the Devenish is a Wiltshire Wildlife Trust nature reserve where you can spot wildlife, rope swing and explore the beautiful countryside.

Buildings

Ok slightly cheating here but the buildings make Salisbury so unique. The first is a half-timbered building between Minister Street and Silver Street and and the other is Trinity Hospital on Trinity Street which is part of the City Almshouses and Welfare Charities. So get off your phone and look around and i'm sure you'll spot some of these characterful buildings!

All Saints Indmiston

A slightly unusual one but Idmiston Church which dates back to the 13th Century has an abundance of noteworthy finds.  The Church Conservation Trust has described as an ‘imposing medieval church’ with ‘fearsome gargoyles and medieval carvings’.

Bourne Hill Gardens Archway

A few minutes away from the centre of the city is this very hidden medieval archway!

No visit to Salisbury is complete without a visit to the more well known parts too such as, Stonehenge, Salisbury Cathedral, and Old Sarum. You can see these three amazing sights with The Stonehenge Tour
