River Bourne Community Farm
Located just outside the Salisbury centre is River Bourne Community Farm, a working farm which is open all year round and free to enter! Here you can get up close to a range of farm animals including pigs, sheep, alpacas, donkeys and much more. Children can also feed the animals for just £1.
The farm consists of 5 acres of farmyard which is mainly accessible for disabled and elderly visitors and 53 acres of adjacent water meadows which are owned by The Devenish Bradshaw Charitable Trust and leased to the Community Farm. There are a number of nature trails around the farm which you can find maps for in the farm café.
Fisherton Mill
If you are heading into the centre of Salisbury, be sure to visit Fisherton Mill, the south of England’s largest independent gallery. With an onsite café and artist studios, you will be able to browse a range of local paintings, sculptures, and photography, before grabbing a bite to eat from a selection of home-grown treats!
Avebury Stone Circle and Avebury Manor and Garden
Nestled amongst the World Heritage Site is the pretty village of Avebury. Recognised for its magnificent Stone Circle and ancient monuments, Avebury offers a great day out for history lovers these Summer Holidays!
For under £10, families can visit Avebury Manor and Garden in the village centre. Here you will learn the many lives and stories of its owners as you explore the different rooms and corridors. Discover the stunning gardens as they display an extension of the beautiful Manor.
Don’t forget to get up close to the iconic Avebury Stone Circle which is free to explore! Take in the expansive views of the surrounding Wiltshire countryside as you discover stone avenues and ancient tombs as well!
Chippenham Museum
Chippenham Museum is free to visit and is open most days of the week. Housed in an 18th Century townhouse, Chippenham Museum tells the fascinating story of this historic market town from prehistoric all the way to present day!
St Peters’ Church, Marlborough
St Peter’s Church is a 15th Century building in Marlborough with historic links dating back more than 500 years! Free to enter, today the Church is a community hub and hosts a range of Arts and History events, exhibitions, and activities.
Tower Tours are available every Saturday and Bank Holiday throughout the Summer Holidays. Climb the 137 steps to the top to experience one of the best views over Marlborough and the surrounding area.

Malmesbury Carnival and Festival
Taking place throughout the summer holidays is Malmesbury’s Carnival and Festival. Featuring a full-blown programme of events including family trails, competitions, music, quizzes and more. Don’t forget to join the showpiece event in September, where the Carnival Procession will take place!
Edington Music Festival
This years' theme at Edington Museum Festival, 'The Ways of the Lord', follows journeys made along ways and roads in the Holy Land. Celebrate the anniversaries of the late 16th Century leading composer, Palestrina, and recent composers, Sir John Rutter and Bob Chilcott, whose compositions for the season of Christmas rarely feature in the August worship!
Calne Bike Meet
One of the largest free motorcycle events in Europe, Calne Bike meet is the perfect family day out in Wiltshire. Spot a range of motorcycles of all shapes, size, and colours as they line the historic streets of Calne this July.
