Where to Watch Fireworks in Wiltshire for Bonfire Night

"Remember, remember the 5th of November, gunpowder treason and plot." Bonfire night traditonally marks the anniversary of the foiling of the Gunpowder Plot by Guy Fawkes and his associates on 5 November 1605. Now it's more of a celebration to get together, enjoy a firework display, bonfire and chow down on some scrummy hot dogs! We've put together a list where you can celebrate fireworks night across the county!

A Buttle Farm Instameet with IgersWiltshire

On Sunday 16th September, the team from VisitWiltshire got together with IgersWiltshire for an animal themed Instameet. Buttle Farm, a rare breed pig farm with farm stay accommodation near Calne, kindly invited us to see their pigs and 10 gorgeous piglets.

REME Museum

A Family Day Out at The REME Museum

As a new museum in the county which details the story of the Royal Electrical & Mechanical Engineers within the Army, I thought this would be of particular interest to the three boys (two mine and one visiting) that I found myself having to entertain for the day.

Buttle Farm

Learning about the slow food movement at Buttle Farm

Nestled on the edge of the village of Compton Bassett in north Wiltshire lies Buttle Farm. I met with the owners, Robert and Sara Buttle, who took me on a tour of the farm so I could learn more about what goes on here and the diversification of the farm.

Calne

A pre-Christmas visit to Calne

As I arrived in Calne on a cold but sunny November’s day, armed with a GoPro, smart phone and SLR camera I was keen to explore some of the town’s historic quarter on such a pretty day.

Tractor Ted's Little Farm

Tractor Ted's Little Farm part 2

We recently took our 1 year old to Bowood House and Gardens along with my friend Jenny. As we arrived at Bowood we headed straight to the Tractor Ted’s Little Farm. There were lots of animals for him to see in the enclosed light and airy barn. He was able to stand on the wooden steps in front of each animal so he could see them eating and playing in their pens, which was brilliant at his age. He loved the lambs and piglets.
